Common questions

How Fast We Get to You

Response time is usually the first thing people want to know, so here it is upfront.

How soon can you fit me in?

Often same or next day for a standard booking, sooner than people expect once we know what's involved. Tell us what's happening and you'll get an honest timeframe, not a vague estimate.

Do you take bookings on weekends, or only genuine emergencies?

Weekends are kept for genuine emergencies. Weekday bookings fill in quickly enough that a wait rarely comes into it, and we'll always tell you honestly if a particular week is tighter than usual.

How do I book a job in?

Call (02) 9538 7444 and talk it through with a real person, or fill in our contact form and we'll ring you when we're free.

What counts as an electrical emergency?

Sparks, a burning smell, exposed wiring, or a total loss of power at your place while neighbours still have theirs. Anything with heat or smoke involved gets treated as urgent, day or night.

Common questions

Money, Quotes and the $50 Off

Pricing is the second most common question, so here's how it actually works.

What does the $50 off your first service actually cover?

Whatever your first job turns into, $50 comes off the final total automatically. You don't need to spend a set amount to qualify, and the deduction is already built into the price you're quoted, not an asterisk you find later.

Is the quote really free?

Yes. We come out, look at the job, and give you a written price with nothing charged for the visit, whether you go ahead or not.

How do I pay once the job's done?

We'll run you through the options when the invoice is ready. The number matches the quote exactly, since the price we agree upfront is the price you pay, even if the job takes longer than expected.

Common questions

Safety, Standards and Paperwork

The legal and technical side, explained without the jargon.

What is AS/NZS 3000 and why does it matter?

Every home in NSW gets wired to the same rulebook, AS/NZS 3000, and we don't deviate from it regardless of the job's size. That's what separates work that stays genuinely safe for years from work that only looks fine on the day.

What is a safety switch (RCD) and do I need one?

It's a device that cuts power almost instantly if current starts leaking somewhere it shouldn't, protecting you from shock. Plenty of older Balmain homes still don't have one fitted, often because the switchboard predates the rule requiring them.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes, NSW Electrical Contractor Licence #452529C, and we're Master Electricians Australia members. We're also fully insured for the work we do, and the licence is checkable through NSW Fair Trading if you'd like to confirm it yourself.

Common questions

The Balmain Questions

A few questions come up specifically because of where you live.

Do you know Balmain's housing stock?

Well. We're forever inside pre-war terraces with ceramic fuse boards and ageing wiring, and just as often in the newer apartment conversions nearby.

What suburbs do you service?

Balmain, plus Rozelle, Lilyfield, Leichhardt, Annandale and Haberfield close by, all part of our usual patch.

Do you work on heritage-listed or strata properties?

Regularly. Balmain has plenty of both, and we know how conservation controls and owners corporations change the way a job gets scoped, from what can be altered to who signs off on it, flagged early rather than partway through.

How local are you, really?

We're in Balmain and the surrounding streets most weeks, not occasionally passing through. It's a normal part of our regular run, not a special trip laid on because you called.
